Glen Campbell - Hey Little One

Photobucket
Capitol 2076, 1968

Out of Glen's string of classic singles from the late '60s, this is the only one that didn't crack the top 40, which means it doesn't get played to death on oldies radio. It deserves a listen though, as it's about as close to pop perfection as you can get. It's co-written by Dorsey Burnette, and I can now recognize his style as I've been digging into a lot of the Burnette brothers' '60s demos lately.  There's that trace of Rockabilly in the pop creaminess.

It's hard to accept this as a Country record - unless 'Country' means Del Shannon singing lead with Buffalo Springfield. Or something like that.

Every CD version of this song I've found features the same awful '90s remix: really dry, with the bass mixed way up. Not a good sound for a Glen Campbell tune.

Looks great, but I don't see a link to download it--I'd hate to end up with that bad CD mix!
